Stacey Solomon has shared a powerful message about postnatal depression, saying that she didn't realise she was suffering from the condition until she had her second child.

Solomon, who regularly uses Instagram to share brutally honest posts about the reality of motherhood, recently sharing that she experienced'gut-wrenching mum guilt'{ =nofollow}after giving birth to her third child Rex in May. But, remembering her pregnancy with her first son, 11-year-old Zachary, she admitted to struggling with mental health difficulties at the time.

Writing alongside a cute snap of the pair surrounded by sunflowers, she wrote: ‘Yesterday we went for a walk in the sunflower fields (Rex was asleep most of the time) because I wasn’t feeling myself (happens now and again).

‘When I had Zachary 11 years ago I really struggled with the way that I felt.’

The TV favourite added that a midwife helped her to accept she had been suffering from postnatal depression when she became pregnant with her second child, son Leighton, seven.

She added, ‘I was so anxious about giving birth and not loving him straight away. Depression and anxiety don’t discriminate. I feel so passionate about raising awareness and trying to get more funds to much needed mental health services.’

In the post, Solomon told her fans about her collaboration with Scamp and Dude for their ‘swag bags with purpose’ campaign, which raises money for mental health charity Mind.
