Hear the words ‘Spice Girls reunion’ and you’d be forgiven for falling into a perpetual déjà vu: it seems, after all, that every few months or so, a new story emerges promising that Victoria, Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C are on the verge of bringing back Girl Power… until one of the five eventually drops out, citing a ‘busy schedule’ or some such nebulous excuse. Remember GEM’s much-vaunted single release? Yeah…
In our heart of hearts, though, we’ve never given up on the good times (sorry, had to…) and our favourite ‘90s quintet has come through for us. Yesterday, all five Spice Girls met up to discuss the ‘exciting possibilities’ that a reunion might hold – and they took to Instagram to document said meeting, filling our nostalgic hearts with a joy last experienced at the Olympic closing ceremony in 2012 (the last time the girls took to the stage together).
According to a statement released through a representative last night, the bandmates ‘enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together.’
‘We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls,’ the statement continues, before dropping some cryptic hints as to what we can expect from the group.

‘The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations,’ it concludes.
According to the Sun, those ‘new opportunities’ take the form of a £10 million deal for each member based on the promise of a TV show in China, a talent show and a greatest hits compilation. The report goes on to suggest that Victoria has sought assurances that she won’t have to sing from pop impresario Simon Fuller.
‘Victoria and Geri agreed it would be impossible to be part of a fully-fledged tour because of family and business commitments,’ a source told the newspaper. ‘Now that she’s a top designer Victoria is concerned about singing but she wants to make money to pump back into her business.'
