In the world of celebrity, the mere drape of a dress of a slight weight increase is often enough to put the rumour mill into overdrive. At the beginning of this year, this was the case for Sophie Turner who, it was claimed, was pregnant. No comments were forthcoming, but now we have confirmation: last week, the Game Of Thrones actress gave birth to a baby girl. Definitely not just a rumour, then.

A spokesperson has confirmed that Sophie, married to singer Joe Jonas, welcomed her first daughter on Wednesday the 22nd of July, in Los Angeles. The pair, the representative added, were 'delighted to announce' the arrival. What's the name of Sophie and Joe's daughter? As yet, they haven't said, but there are rumours that she is called Willa. Interestingly, two characters of that name appeared in Game Of Thrones.

We first began to wonder if we were going to have a new Jonas back in February, when Sophie was spotted in baggy jumpers and holding bags in front of her stomach. In May, the couple were photographed buying baby items.

The couple enjoy their privacy, but Sophie did break her silence amid lockdown in March when she begged her followers to take quarantine seriously.

Hosting an Instagram Live, she proclaimed: 'Stay inside. Don't be fking stupid. Even if you count your "freedom" over your health. I don't give a fk about your freedom. You could be infecting other people, other vulnerable people around you by doing this. So stay inside guys! It's not cool, it's not big, and it's not clever... And that's the tea.'

Sophie and Joe have been together since October of 2016, and married in Las Vegas in 2019. In clips shared by friends on social media, Joe was seen waiting at the altar before Sophie entered in a veil and jumpsuit. In another video, Sophie was heard saying her vows - 'I thee wed.... and I love you... and I thank God He gave me you' - with the help of their Elvis Presley impersonator officiant. They later enjoyed a more elegant, less spontaneous ceremony with friends and family in France.

For their low-key ceremony in Santa Barbara, which was attended by just two witnesses (his father and her maternal grandmother), Kardashian side-stepped a frou-frou frock for something infinitely more fun: a spaghetti-strapped minidress from Dolce & Gabbana. The mini's corset was embellished - rather appropriately - with a heart and she accessorised the look with a demure veil that was attached to a pair of sheer sleeves. Genius.

While her shoes were custom-made Brother Vellies, her dress, according to Vogue, was something she pulled out of her wardrobe, having not worn it for three years, and her veil was her mother's. 'Since the mantra we set for our stoop wedding was, 'Do the best you can with what you have,' I decided to not overthink my dress,' she told Vogue.
