Sophie Turner has hit back at those unhappy with the Game Of Thrones finale, calling the fan-made petitions ‘disrespectful’. It comes after a Change.org petition to ‘rewrite the series with competent writers’ has hit over 1.3million signatures since it was started following the penultiate episode. The petition reads, ‘David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.'

But the Sansa Stark actress is having none of it - and has admirably defended the team behind the series.

‘All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season,’ the actress told the New York Times.

‘So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.’

Before the last episode aired on Sunday, Sophie paid tribute to the show, writing on Instagram, ‘Sansa, Thank you for teaching me resilience, bravery and what true strength really is. Thank you teaching me to be kind and patient and to lead with love. I grew up with you. I fell in love with you at 13 and now 10 years on.. at 23 I leave you behind, but I will never leave behind what you’ve taught me.'
