While the internet is exploding over the whole Solange Vs Jay-Z elevator situation, details are starting to emerge about the night leading up to the shocking altercation.
After the Met Ball, Solange, Beyoncé, Jay and every other fashionable celebrity in New York City headed to the Top of the Standard (formerly known as the Boom Boom Room and still called that sometimes) where the sisters posed for selfies with other famous people and seemed to have a nice time.
Until, that is, apparently Solange started yelling at a number of people, including fashion designer Rachel Roy. Roy, who was previously married to Jay-Z’s former business partner Damon Dash, had actually attended the Met Ball with Solange a few years ago.
A source told Us Weeklythat Beyoncé ‘got in the middle of it’, while another partygoer said they saw Solange ‘yelling at a number of people.’
So far there hasn’t been a word from the camps of Solange, Beyoncé, or Jay-Z. Perhaps tellingly, Bey posted a prayer to God on her Instagram five days ago, asking him to bless her relationships. It reads ‘Help me to choose my friends wisely so I won’t be led astray. Give me discernment and strength to separate myself from anyone who is not a good influence.’
Solange cancelled dates on her tour last year, saying in a statement: ‘I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family.’
She also got into a Twitter beef with former collaborator and close friend Dev Hynes in November, after he mentioned in an interview that he’d written some songs on her album before he even met her, including Losing You, which she performed with Beyoncé at Coachella last month.
Meanwhile, the Standard Hotel has said it will find and prosecute the person who released the security footage. Photos show the group and security guard leaving the Standard, with Jay-Z and the security guard looking particularly shaken. Solange looks angry. Beyoncé? She looks remarkably composed all things considered.
