We’ve all been there: you’re on holiday and – bored on the beach – log on to Tinder to see what local talent is around. (Btw, Frenchmen = hot.)
And so it is at Sochi, where American snowboarder Jamie Anderson has admitted overnight that all the athletes are busy swiping right. ‘Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level,’ she told US press. ‘In the mountain village it's all athletes. It's hilarious. There are some cuties on there.’
It hasn’t taken long for Tinder to, er, take off there then. At the start of the competition, fellow snowboarder Rebecca Torr was complaining that there was a distinct lack of enthusiasm for the app. But perhaps she’s been on a mission to get everyone on board. (And wouldn’t you? Those bearded Canadian bobsleigh team are surprisingly alluring.)
In fact, Tinder use has shot up so much that Jamie, 23, has had to put in place a self-imposed ban on the dating app. ‘There was a point where I had to be like OK, this is way too distracting,’ she said. ‘I deleted my account to focus on the Olympics.’
Fair enough. Still, with 100,000 condoms dropped into the Sochi Olympic Village, free booze and snowboarders advertising their services on helmets – we’d put a bet on the fact they’ll be a lot of Olympians having a better Valentine’s Day than us.
