Simone Battle, the 25 year-old X Factor USA 2011 finalist and member of girl band GRL, died over the weekend and it's now been confirmed as suicide by the coroner. *

GRL were formed in 2012 and originally supposed to be an all-new Pussycat Dolls line-up before Dolls creator Robin Antin decided to create a whole new band. Simone shot to fame in 2011, though, as a finalist on the X Factor USA and had since played bit parts in TV and films.

On Friday night, music producer and friend Derek L Butler Instagrammed two moving tributes to the young singer, before her record label confirmed the sad news on Saturday morning.

Our thoughts go out to all her friends and family.
