It has been reported that Sherif Lanre might have been kicked offLove Island for spending too much time alone in the shower. While his departure was briefly mentioned by the narrator Iain Stirling, ITV2 edited him out of last night’s show almost completely - and didn’t answer any questions about why he had to go.
The Sun reports that sources have said the 20-year-old spent long periods of time alone in bed and hiding in the shower. An insider told the paper, ‘When producers told Islanders they have to get ready to film a challenge, Sherif was deliberately spending ages in the shower. He said he couldn’t be bothered.’ According to the rules, contestants are not allowed to masturbate.
Megan Barton-Hanson, writing for The Sun, has said that he ‘must have done something serious.’ ‘I reckon he must have done some something SERIOUS, God knows what it was,’ she wrote. ‘It's such a shame because he was starting to get on really well with Anna and she was starting to open up to him. There was a romance blossoming and now it's all gone. It's tragic.’
An insider also told the paper that the exit has thrown the show into chaos, as Sherif was coupled with Anna, and there was due to be a recoupling. A source said, ‘Sherif's exit means bosses are scrambling to get the show back on track. There was due to be another recoupling this week but they are not sure what to do because they are back to an equal number of girls and boys. They've decided that Anna will stay on the show as single and given the chance to find love in the next recoupling.’
The internet went wild yesterday as DMs supposedly from Sherif said that the reason he was booted off the show was because he got into a fight with Anton - but producers have since said these are fake.
A spokesperson for Love Island told MailOnline yesterday, 'After breaking the villa rules, Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.'
Sherif said, 'In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.'
