It’s a known fact that stars love to see their own movies with the masses to gauge the real reaction to the flicks, but this can prove a little difficult when you’re, er, famous or whatever.
Shailene Woodley decided to give her new movie The Fault In Our Stars an opening weekend boost by paying to see it like everyone else, and headed to the theatre with her co-star and friend Ansel Elgort.
The 22-year-old actress is quite recognisable these days, not least because of her cropped ’do, so she hid beneath a long, curly wig and added a woolly hat for good measure. To our knowledge, no one figured out the stars of the movie were actually right there watching it with them.
Shailene proved she’s just like a regular person by sneaking her own snacks into the theatre, and was rumbled via Twitter by Ansel, who told his followers she’d brought her own popcorn. He Instagrammed the picture of her in disguise the day after they went to the movies.
The Fault In Our Stars had a hugely successful opening weekend in the US, taking in over $48m and beating Maleficent and Tom Cruise’s Edge Of Tomorrow. The movie – a love story about a young cancer patient – cost just $12m to make, which means it’s already wildly profitable and has given Shailene the firm Hollywood stamp of approval.
