Is Margot Robbie Joining Sex Education For Season 3?

Netflix has finally confirmed the return date of one of our favourite shows...

Sex Education Season 3

As soon as she appeared on our screens as Maeve Wiley in Sex Education, Emma Mackey has been compared to Margot Robbie. The pair definitely look they are part of the same gorgeous family. So it's no wonder that fans of the series fell for a fake image that announced Margot would be joining the cast as Maeve's sister for season three.

At that point we were, after all, desperate for any nuggets about the show's return that we could get our hands on. We wish this was the case but alas, it's just a rumour!

Now, though, we have more to go on, including a release date.

Due to the pandemic, filming had to be postponed five months - but production did start on Sex Education in 2020, after a filming bubble was set up at the filming location in Wales.

Most of the original cast will be returning, with Girls star Jemima Kirke joining as Mr Groff’s replacement, Hope, and Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs joining the show as Mr Groff’s more successful brother Peter. Songwriter Dua Saleh will also be making their acting debut as Cal, a non-binary student who clashes with the new headteacher.

'It’s a new year,' the new synopsis from Netflix reads. 'Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.' That reference to Hope making the school a 'pillar of excellence' probably explains those horrible grey uniforms.

Stars like Emma Mackey, Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield and BAFTA winner Aimee Lou Wood will, of course, return, and we'll be able to find out what happened after last season's finale cliff hanger!

When is Season 3 of Sex Education out?

Not long now! School will be back in session on September 17th 2021, with the whole season dropping on Netflix in one go.

Netflix recently released a very telling new promo image in anticipation of the show's release. It's titled ' Growth is a group project' - we wonder what the characters will go though this season which will see them grow together.

Is there a Sex Education Season 3 explainer?

Not yet! But watch this space.
