Someone gets some flutes and pour out the Crémant de Loire... Tennis star Serena Williams got engaged to her Reddit co-founder boyfriend Alexis Ohanian!
Though Christmas engagements aren’t exactly a rarity, theirs was undoubtedly the sweetest.
Ohanian whisked Williams off to Rome, proposed and she said yes (obvs), which sounds sweet enough, but it was the announcement that really got us.
The 35-year-old took to Reddit, natch, to spread the good news. Alongside a cute little cartoon of the lurved-up pair, she posted a poem.
It said: “I came home
A little late
Someone had a bag packed for me
And a carriage waited.
Destination: Rome
To escort me to my very own "charming"
Back to where our stars first collided
And now it was full circle
At the same table we first met by chance
But by choice
Down on knee
He said 4 words
And I said yes.”
Ohanian shared the Reddit post on his Facebook, and commented: “And you made me the happiest man on the planet”.
Celebrity friends, including model Karlie Kloss, took to Twitter to congratulate the couple.
Come on, cynics, this is cute.
Though the pair are famously private, Ohanian’s Instagrams shows he thinks a lot of his badass fiance — and quite right, too.
The 33-year-old posted a pic of Williams after winning her 22nd Grand Slam title at Wimbledon this summer, calling her ‘Our queen’. He’s also said multiple times how proud he is of her successes in tennis and fashion.
Massive congrats.
