"This was the first year I ever dealt with anyone talking about my body", the singer told Us Weekly. "I'd land at the airport and people would yell out, 'You're fat!' It was awful".
"I've been working in therapy" she told the magazine. "Even if I did gain weight, I'm fine. That's what the picture represents".
The picture Selena is talking about her nude cover for her album, Revival.

Selena Gomez has spoken out against the body-shaming comments made earlier this year after she was papped in a swimsuit on a break in Mexico. The 23-year-old singer said she was “bummed” when people criticised her body in the photos, but now she says she's taking back control - with a little help from Taylor Swift.
While we’d love to look as good as Selena did in that skimpy black bathing suit, she was attacked by trolls online, leading her to comment at the time: “I love being happy with me y’all #theresmoretolove.”
Now, Selena’s trying to see the positive side in all the hate and says it’s made her appreciate her body even more. She said to Flare Magazine: “I was really bummed when I found out all that stuff was going on. And that's when I was like, 'I'm so tired of feeling like I'm being pulled down by something.’
“Revival is the first song on the album, and the first lines are, 'I feel like I've awakened - the chains around me are finally breaking.'"
She added: “I don't want them to win. It's not fair for them to try to control my life. Yeah, I'm insecure sometimes, but so is everybody. Yeah, I made mistakes, but so does everybody.”
And one of the reasons for her new found self-confidence? Everyone’s BFF, Taylor Swift. Selena gushed: “Taylor has such a beautiful way of bringing people together. That was good for me, because the more I started working, the more uncomfortable I was.
“I wouldn't trust people, and Taylor has a way of stripping down everything and just getting down to being human. I love that.” Taylor: on a one-woman humanitarian mission to become every woman's bestie.
