‘Date nights’ used to be one of those things you watched people do in American films, but never thought you’d actually experience. Dating maybe, but not an official, forced-fun 'date' with your already-partner. Fast-forward to adult life when the majority of couple conversation is based around deposits, washing powder and who’s going to work from home while someone comes to set up the broadband, and they become a necessity. Albeit a pretty fun one.
While most people wear normal clothes (we might be forced out of our Birkenstock clogs, at most) and go to their local pub, it seems Selena Gomez is predictably Selena Gomez about the whole thing.
Her latest series of Instagram pictures show her wearing a lace layered lingerie-look slip dress, while achieving the perfect balance of gloss and tousle with her hair (which is almost impossible) and a sexy rather than deranged what-you-might-call smouldering smoky eye (… similarly impossible).
Would we look the same if we attempted to recreate the look? No. Will we be trying anyway? Yus.
They seem to have been taken by Alfy2Trill, a creative director who’s worked with cool girl DJ siblings Simi Haze and Selena’s boyfriend, The Weeknd, who’s been tagged in one of the posts.
The pair have been together since earlier in the year and, bar some seriously PDA Instaposts, made their public debut at the Met Ball in May.
Unsurprisingly, the internet has gone into overdrive about what the posts mean. Sure, it could just mean she wants to show off her sexpot ‘date night’ look or, so says the Insta-detectives, it could mean the couple will be making music together.
