Scarlett Johansson has topped this year’s Forbes list of top-grossing actors, over her male colleagues, scoring a big WIN for womenkind.
Though the fight for financial equality in Hollywood is very much ongoing, it’s good to see the 32-year-old, who’s had roles in Captain America: Civil War, The Jungle Book and Hail, Caesar!, getting first place.
Collectively, she brought in £978m, which beat Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr, whose were tied second with £938m.
The trio can attribute the huge figures to Captain America: Civil War, which was the top-grossing film of 2016. In fact, the whole list is basically just a list of actors with parts in this year’s Marvel and D.C Comic films.
Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie and Will Smith made appearances at number four and 10, Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice stars came in number five, six and seven, and Ryan Reynolds, who starred in Deadpool, got number eight.
Brit actor Felicity Jones, who rose to fame in The Theory Of Everything alongside Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, was the only person without a comic film in her 2016 filmography. Her debut on the list at ninth place is thanks to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which has already grossed £816m since it was released in December, Inferno and A Monster Calls.
