Sarah Jessica Parker has found a new and unexpected way to troll Trump’s administration: through the medium of Sex and the City memes.
In case you’ve not been following the latest scandal to grip the White House (and we don’t blame you if so, for there are many), we’ll bring you up to speed. It’s become apparent that Trump’s Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, failed to disclose the fact that he met with Russia’s ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, twice during the presidential campaign, despite swearing under oath that he had not had any dealings with him.
Sessions went on to excuse himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the election due to potential conflict of interest. Since then, yet more members of Trump’s inner circle have admitted to meetings with Russia.
Sex and the City fans might remember that the sixth season of the show saw Carrie Bradshaw dating a Russian artist named Aleksandr Petrovsky (as played by ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov). Admittedly, Aleksandr had no diplomatic ties to his country, but Sarah Jessica was clearly piqued by the connection.
The actress supported Hillary Clinton in the run up to the presidential election, performing on stage at the ‘Broadway for Hillary’ fundraiser back in October, so it’s fair to assume that she isn’t the biggest fan of the new President. Taking to her Instagram account, the actress posted a Sex and the City meme showing Carrie bathed in the glow of her laptop screen, captioned: ‘I couldn’t help but wonder… had the Russian ambassador been meeting with everybody except me?’ Given the latest revelations from Trump’s camp, the answer might just be yes…
Underneath the meme, the actress wrote: ‘I had to. Don’t know the provenance however whoever you are, thank you,’ signing off with a kiss.
Clearly, no one throws shade quite as stylishly as SJP…
