Sam Smith's Bond theme tune is finally here! Writing's On The Wall was launched on Spotify this morning, just over a month before Spectre comes to cinemas on 26 October.

Sam also appeared on the Radio 1 Breakfast show to introduce the song, and revealed he was "terrified", telling The Sun:

"I'm s****ing myself. With this song I don't care about it charting and things like that. I just care about doing the legacy proud."

He added: “This is one of the highlights of my career... I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”

Sam Smith will be releasing Spectre song/Bond theme tune* Writing's On The Wall* on Friday via iTunes, but to keep his fans happy, he's released the tiniest teaser of the song on Twitter.

A word of warning: it's not the BIGGEST sneak peek in the world, but the teaser does indicate that Sam's track will have all the pomp and grandeur of Shirley Bassey's epic Bond theme tune Goldfinger. In short: It sounds pretty badass.

Have a listen below.

After teasing us with a cryptic Instagram photo and even flatly denying rumours he was to sing the next Bond soundtrack, Sam Smith has finally confirmed that he has recorded the theme song for Spectre.

He shared the news via Facebook with an official shot of himself suited and booted inside the famous Bond spotlight, revealing that the song is titled 'Writing’s On The Wall.'

He wrote: "This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible lineup of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it. You can pre-order 'Writing’s On The Wall' on CD or vinyl here, or on iTunes from midnight."

Sam also chatted to Nick Grimshaw about the news on Radio 1 this morning, admitting he's be sworn to secrecy: "I'm so relieved to actually talk about this, this has been a top secret mission of my own."

Admitting he's duped his fans, he revealed he recorded the track way back in January this year. "I got called into the office with Barbara Broccoli and Sam Mendes and they gave me the script, I read the script... they said 'have a go at the song'.

"It's the quickest I've ever written a song - it took 20 minutes... and they loved it!"

"I love the song so much," he added.

It's certainly a speedy turnaround, but given that Sam's no stranger to a hit, we've no doubt it's a smash.

Sam has co-written the song with fellow Grammy award winner Jimmy Napes, who's previously worked with him on hits 'Stay With Me' and 'La La La'. It's definitely an honour for the artist as he's the first British male soloist to record record a Bond theme tune since 1965. Go Sam!

Sam Smith has been rumoured to be the man behind the theme tune for upcoming James Bond film Spectre for a while. And now he seems to have confimed he is sound-tracking the film by posting a very suspicious tattoo to Instagram.

Sam previously denied the speculation he was doing the theme tune to Radio 2, saying: "That's not me...That's definitely not me. I've still got loads to do. I've got an Australia tour, but I kind of finish in December which is great, it gives me a chance to be in London, be in my home and go out with my friends.''

But then he posted the below photo to Twitter, of his finger bearing a tattoo of the film's logo.

So either Sam IS doing the theme tune, or he just like a bit of drama and is winding people up. Either way, we think he'd be a great choice!

In other news, David Beckham has been rumoured to be "considering" the role of James Bond himself!
