It’s nearly the end of the year, but the Spice Girls vs Ryan Reynolds is a late contender for feud of 2019. In the actor’s latest film 6 Underground, it’s clear he isn’t the girl group’s biggest fan - as during one of the film’s many, many car chases, Dave Franco asks to put some music on. And when Wannabe starts to play, the Reynolds character rips the radio out of the car and casually throws it out the window.

Understandably, it has a lot of people wondering just what on earth Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Posh and Baby have done to the actor. Have they had they had a secret spat at a party, or does he have some bad memories set to their songs? What could provoke such an impulsive reaction?

But the actor was keen to clear up the rumours: when one Twitter user asked, ‘What does @VancityReynolds have against @spicegirls?’ he took the time to reply, revealing that - actually playing Wannabe wasn’t his idea.

‘The song was added in post production,’ the actor declared. ‘I would NEVER interrupt the Spice Girls. Never. Especially during a car chase. That's when I'd need them most. #6Underground.’

Still need convincing? The actor said in a previous interview that his wife, Blake Lively, isn’t too happy about the whole thing. ‘I specifically asked for something else,’ he recently said. 'Something like an old 98 Degrees song or something like that, that I would rip out... the fact that Michael effing Bay put in Spice Girls — which by the way, where I'm from, in my house, that's a religion. When my wife finds out that I rip out a radio because the Spice Girls is playing, I'm a dead man. They're amazing, the Spice Girls.’

Emma? Victoria? Geri? Mel? Mel? It’s your move.
