Barely a week passes without an all-star line-up gracing the stage on Saturday Night Live, but for the season 43 premiere they've really pulled out the big guns.

It has been confirmed that Ryan Gosling will host the first show of the new season (airing September 30th) with Jay Z as his musical guest.

The show, which was nominated for 22 Emmys, is set to look a little different this season with three key cast members - Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata - no longer on the show.

It is perfectly timed for Gosling and Jay Z with both stars promoting new projects. Gosling's new film, Blade Runner 2049 will land in cinemas a week after the show, and Jay Z's new album, 4.44 is out now.

This will not be Gosling's first time at the rodeo, when he hosted SNl back in 2015 his Close Encounters skit quickly went viral. Similarly, Jay Z has previously performed on the show in 2000, 2002, and 2017.

Fingers crossed for more of the same at the end of September - put this one is your diaries.
