Ryan Gosling has managed to break our hearts yet again - this time, with his emotional Golden Globes acceptance speech.

After winning the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in La La Land, the star used his time on stage to thank his wife Eva Mendes for making his performance possible, and to pay tribute to his late brother-in-law, who died last year.

Starting off on a lighter note, Gosling joked about being mistaken for fellow attractive Canadian named Ryan, Ryan Reynolds, claiming that 'it's getting out of hand.'

He then went on to thank his director, Damien Chazelle, and co-star Emma Stone, before focusing on the 'lady' to whom he credits his success: his wife, Eva.

'I would like to try to thank one person properly and say while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with her second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer,' he said.

'If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you.’

After a shout out to his two young daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, Ryan went on to dedicate his Golden Globe win to 'the memory of [Eva's] brother, Juan Carlos Mendez.'
