It's hard to imagine beloved (and soon-to-be resurrected) TV show Gilmore Girls with a different cast. For example, could you imagine, say, Ryan Gosling as a potential love interest for Alexis Bledel's main character, Rory? No? Us neither... but it was almost so!
At this weekend's Gilmore Girls' fan event in Connecticut, casting director Jami Rudofsky revealed that the Canadian actor auditioned for the role of a football player in the early days of the show, but that it 'fell flat'.
Surprising stuff, we know, but we're sort of glad. After all, what if Gosling had trumped Jess, played by Milo Ventimiglia, or even Dean, played by Jared Padalecki, and we'd have missed out on Rory's two great love stories? It's not worth thinking about... Plus, Mr Gosling has gone on to be quite successful, regardless of his failure.
