Well, this is hardly a surprise: Jared Leto’s Oscar-acceptance speech was heavily edited when Russian TV aired the Academy Awards on Monday night,

State-run Channel One in Russia aired a 90-minute edit of the ceremony, having cancelled a previously planned live broadcast, and cut out the part when Jared voiced support for the people of Ukraine: 'To all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight, in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say: We are here and, as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we're thinking of you tonight.'

The TV station says it did not deliberately cut that bit out, telling The Hollywood Reporter they didn't edit the version they were provided. A spokesperson said: 'The channel aired a 90-minute international version of the Oscar ceremony, which was not to be cut and was provided by the rights holder.'

Jared won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club.
