The ill-feted couple are sadly Ruby Rose and Phoebe Dahl, who announced their split earlier this week. Fashion designer Phoebe releasing an official statement: ‘After two wonderful years together, Ruby and I have decided to part ways," the 27-year-old said. ‘While we still love each other and support each other in every way, it is our mutual decision to part ways. Our break is not the result of any media speculation, and we want nothing but the best for each other.’
But she then followed up with a sweet tweet to her Orange is The New Black ex-girlfriend: ‘You have brought me to my best and I will always love you. I can't wait to see what the future brings for us.’
Rather than sending some thinly-veiled snark back at her ex, Ruby was equally mature in her public goodbye and tweeted to Phoebe that she: ‘remains very dear to my heart. I will forever treasure our time together. I’m a better person because of all we shared.’
The Aussie couple got engaged back in March 2014, when Phoebe took a hands-on approach to proposing. Phoebe said at the time: ‘She broke into my house with flowers and a card at like five in the morning, she gets down on one knee and says ‘Ruby, will you marry me’ … I was so convinced it was a prank. But his was a prank that went horribly right… This is my soulmate, this is the woman of my life, we’re so in love.’
