Yesterday, we were all told the very happy news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have welcomed their second child, and their first daughter. And with the sweet name{ =nofollow}Lilibet 'Lili' Diana, the pair chose to pay tribute to the Queen (her family nickname is Lilibet) and Harry's late mother, the Princess of Wales. Writing on their website Archewell, the pair themselves said: 'On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could ever have imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.'

And, along with the well wishes from around the world, the couple have received love from the royal family, who have publicly acknowledged the birth. Buckingham Palace wrote in a statement, 'The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.' Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Camilla wrote on Twitter that they were 'wishing them all well at this special time.'

Harry's brother William, Duke of Cambridge, and William's wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, also wrote on Instagram: 'We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.' On Instagram, they also shared one of the sweet photos - taken by Misan Harriman - that the couple shared when they announced the pregnancy.

Princess Eugenie also posted a warm message on her Instagram stories, writing 'congratulations dear cousins, we couldn't be happier for you all.' She and her sister Beatrice are known to be particularly close to Harry and, indeed, Meghan, despite claims of animosity stemming from the claims that Meghan announced her first pregnancy at Eugenie's wedding.

Additional royal tributes are sure to emerge in the coming days, and we're sure we'll see some kind words from Meghan's famous friends too. We imagine Oprah Winfrey has already sent a congratulations gift.

Obviously it will probably take a while for the family to meet Lilibet - due to coronavirus travel restrictions to the US, as Harry and Meghan are living in California - but hopefully the royals in the UK will soon be able to congratulate the family in person. It is possible that Harry would bring the whole family to mark what would have been his late mother's 60th birthday in July, but this is not yet confirmed: it is, after all, a long way to take a newborn baby and a mother who has just given birth. But it's not impossible: he may not want to be away from them for a prolonged period of time.

If Harry and Meghan stick to their previously discussed plan, Lili will be the final addition to their young family, which already includes their two-year-old son Archie. 'Two, maximum!' Harry has previously said. 'I’ve always thought: "this place is borrowed,"' he continued. 'And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation.'

Warmest wishes to the lovely couple, and a big welcome to the world to little Lili.
