When most kids turn 13, they celebrate with a trip to Frankie & Benny's.
But for Romeo Beckham, the moment he became a teenager was marked by an experience that most British boys can only dream of – acting as a mascot for the England football team.

Romeo held the England captain Wayne Rooney’s hand as they walked out into Wembley stadium together at the start of yesterday evening’s qualifying match against Switzerland.

Romeo, who has already made a name for himself in the modelling world as the star of two Burberry campaigns, proudly marched onto the pitch, followed by the rest of the England team.

David, who had pulled several strings with the FA to get the gig for his son, watched proudly from the sidelines in his seat next to the England manager Roy Hodgson during the National Anthem.

It turns out Romeo proved his worth as a mascot too – during the game Wayne scored his 50th England goal.

In doing so, he broke football hero Bobby Charlton’s goal-scoring record and he was later presented with a new football shirt with the number 50 on the back by Roy to commemorate the event.

Not bad for a Tuesday night, eh?
