Rumours around a Rodarte film debut go as far back as three years ago. Though the actual plot has been top secret since then...But the leading lady who has been always attached to the project since day one? Kirsten Dunst.

The A-list actress has long been friends with the LA-based design duo, Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Often appearing FROW-side at their shows during NYFW and on the red carpet. And now the newly-released first trailer ‘Woodshock' - written and directed by the Rodarte sisters - offers a sneak peak at their 'hypnotic' and moody cinematic effort.

Yes, there are definite references to Kirsten's earlier film roles - from Sofia Coppola’s cult hit The Virgin Suicides to 2011 sci-fi thriller Melancholia. But if anything, the beautifully shot first look is straight off the Rodarte runway. Atmospheric. Other-worldly. Undeniably cool.

The film is described as ‘a hypnotic exploration of isolation, paranoia and grief that exists in a dream-world all its own,’ starring Dunst as the protagonist Theresa, ‘a haunted young woman spiralling in the wake of profound loss, torn between her fractured emotional state and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug.’

While it’s difficult to pigeonhole this film (horror/sci-fi flick/coming of age?), it's sure to be a visual trip (get ready for A Single Man comparisons – Tom Ford’s super stylish and slick first film in 2009), often referencing cinema, music and art history within their collections each season.

The sister duo are also no stranger to straddling between the fashion and film world. They worked on the costumes for Black Swan and created a high-street collection for & Other Stories which included some not-so-subtle Star Wars-inspired pieces.
