Turns out R-Patz is going to transform into R-Batz, as the 33-year-old has been tipped to replace Ben Affleck as Batman. Reports overnight have said that the Twilight star is in negotiations to play The Batman in Matt Reeves’ future superhero epic, which will cinemas in summer 2021. It was previously reported that R-Patz was being considered for a role as a villain in the film, while Armie Hammer was in "final talks" for the titular part.

Variety reports that the actor is top of Warner Bros’ list and that the deal is expected to be confirmed soon. A source has also told the website that production should start this summer, if everything goes to plan.

Ben confirmed in January that he was giving up his role in the franchise as actor and director after playing Bruce Wayne in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League. He tweeted, 'Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life.' Appearing on _Jimmy Kimmel Live e_arlier this year, he explained why he had stepped down, saying, 'I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn’t come up with a version, I couldn’t crack it. So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it. They got some really good people so I’m excited.'

Robert was catapulted into fame in 2008 as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga - since then, he has starred in films including The Rover, Queen of the Desert and The Lost City of Z.
