We could all go into work today and pour cups of boiling water over our heads. Technology (the humble kettle) has allowed us to do it. But we don’t do it, obviously, because it is a really stupid idea. However, this sort of ‘Is this stupid?’ hesitation doesn’t seem to have been employed by Robbie Williams in the last 24 hours.
While his wife Ayda Field – a make-up artist, who doesn’t really need fame to pay her dues – was giving birth to their second child, a little boy, he was live-tweeting and vlogging the whole thing in the most obnoxious way possible.
First of all, if you’re going to micro-vlog via video, at least be smart enough to use Vine, not YouTube.
Second of all, Ayda doesn’t seem to be happy about Robbie publicising her every contraction. In one of the videos, Robbie helps to stretch Ayda’s cramping leg out while bellowing his version of the Disney song Let It Go, from the film* Frozen*.
And maybe he should have just let it go (the peacocking and performing around his wife’s bed, not the leg). She even yells at him: ‘Stop singing Frozen!’

To give Robbie the benefit of the doubt, maybe Ayda agreed to livetweet and vlog the birth. Maybe she really does like the attention. But, we just don’t get why Robbie feels the need to show off his own talents at that exact moment. Ayda’s the one pushing a child through her vagina – that’s always going to be the most impressive thing in the room.
Robbie explained via another video: ‘[It’s been a] very emotional, amazing few hours. We’re really happy and honoured that you experienced the journey with us.’
But as fans, does anyone – apart from the sort of creep who’ll buy from eBay a towel Robbie sweated on in 1998 – actually feel that honour in return?
In case your opinion of him is teetering on a knife edge, how about this to settle whether he’s a prick or not. Previously, he’s said that the first time Ayda gave birth – to their daughter Teddy Rose – he was watching, and it was like ‘watching your favourite pub burn down’.

He decided to embellish this comment with a little anal sex joke – exactly the thing to share with fans as your wife goes through the potentially life-threatening process of labour:
‘OMG that pub’s burning down again. I’m reliably informed there’s an off licence round the back’ RW x

Congrats on the new arrival, Robbie and Ayda, but it seems like you’ve got one too many children in your family.
