The trial of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has captured the world’s attention, and for good reason. The music mogul was arrested in September 2024 and has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation, but he has denied all allegations and has pleaded not guilty in court.
We’ve already heard groundbreaking testimonies from multiple people and celebrities involved in Diddy’s life. His ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura took to the stand to detail the alleged abuse she endured over the course of their 11 year relationship and Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard spoke about the sexual assault she claims to have suffered at the hands of Diddy. Rapper Kid Cudi, whose car was allegedly set on fire by Diddy after he learned of his affair with Ventura, also took the stand. The music mogul’s former personal assistant David James and an escort Diddy allegedly paid for ‘freak offs’ called Daniel Phillip also testified against him.
Plenty of other celebrity names have cropped up throughout the trial, including Usher, who previously described Diddy as a mentor, and Michael B. Jordan, who reportedly had a brief flirtation with Ventura during a period of her and Diddy’s on-off relationship. However, it’s important to note that there has been no suggestion of them being involved in the alleged crimes, nor are they accused of any wrongdoing. One of the latest stars to be indirectly tied to the case is Rihanna, and here’s everything you need to know about why her name has been mentioned during the trial.
Why was Rihanna named in the Diddy trial?
Rihanna, who is mother to two sons, RZA and Riot, and has a third child on the way with A$AP Rocky, has been indirectly tied to the case twice. Firstly, make-up artist Mylah Morales - who took to the stand on May 22nd - was a close friend of Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, and she previously worked for Rihanna for 13 years.
During her time on the stand- where she detailed witnessing Diddy’s alleged abuse of Cassie - Morales was shown photographs from magazines and video shoots where she had done Ventura’s makeup, as well as a picture of Cassie, Rihanna, and Ryan Leslie attending an awards show.
Capricorn Clark - who was Diddy’s personal assistant between 2004 and 2006 - also mentioned the Umbrella singer in her testimony. Clark said she was on holiday in the south of France and Italy with the pop star when Diddy fired her in 2012.
Will Rihanna testify in the Diddy trial?
So far, there has been no evidence to suggest that Rihanna will take the stand during Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial.
