Was Solange And Jay Z’s Lift Spat Over Rihanna?

Rihanna and Jay Z affair rumours have surfaced again, thanks to a new book called 'Becoming Beyonce.'

Rumours of an affair circulated in 2005 when Rihanna was 17 and signed to Def Jam records, where Jay Z was CEO. Auther of the unauthorised biography, J. Randy Taraborrelli, said that the affair was "total fiction" started by a publicist to Entertainment Tonight. He said: “Beyoncé didn’t know what to make of this, and it actually ended up breaking them up for a time. They spent maybe a year apart from each other because Beyoncé just wasn’t sure of what to make of the situation with Rihanna.” He said that “it’s safe to say that Rihanna and Beyoncé are friends.”

He also said that Rihanna was involved in THAT lift spat between Jay Z and Solange at the Met Gala in 2014. He said: “People told me that there was a whispered argument that night having to do with Jay wanting to go to a party [for] Rihanna. Beyoncé did what Beyoncé does. She laid down the law . . . it was a whispered married couple’s argument that would’ve gone by completely unnoticed had not Solange overheard it.”

They have never spoken about what happened in the lift, but said in a statement at the time: "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

A friend says to Taraborrelli in the book that Jay Z is "basically nothing at all — and I mean absolutely nothing — like what you would expect him to be.” The friend adds: "Sure he has the swagger, he has the bad boy vibe, he has the dangerous gangster thing. But when it came to Beyoncé Knowles, all that s--- had pretty much melted away by 2007. Everyone could see that she was his biggest concern.”
