Rihanna Is The Ultimate Slasher So You Don’t Have To Be

You might have seen Rihanna act in Peter Berg’s Battleship back in 2012. You’ve probably noticed the pap shots of her filming Ocean’s Eight with Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, set for release in summer 2018 (hurry up, already). But, far more excitingly, her TV acting debut as Marion Crane in Bates Motel is just around the corner. We’re screaming for more reasons than one.

The fifth and final season of Bates Motel – a prequel to cult Hitchcock horror film Psycho – will begin airing on Monday 20 February on the A+E channel in the US, with its UK network Universal Channel expected to follow suit shortly after. RiRi, according to executive producer Carlton Cuse, will appear in multiple episodes from 5.1 onwards. How close she’ll get to her untimely death in the shower, as portrayed by Janet Leigh in the OG Psycho, remains to be seen.

With her IMDB page filling up, eighth studio album Anti still providing platinum-selling singles almost a year after its release and new styles of her sell-out Fenty x Puma creepers being added on what feels like a monthly basis, it’s safe to say Rihanna is a slasher. Take into account last year’s Manolo Blahnik collaboration, her sunglasses line with Dior, modelling for both of the above, her philanthropic ventures through the Clara Lionel Foundation and her eight Grammy nominations… and we’re exhausted just thinking about it.

While we’re 100% impressed with Rihanna’s chameleon-like ability to flit between singing, acting, modelling, designing and philanthropy, we’re going to leave the slasher thing to her. Sure, side hustles are great, they're fun, can sometimes make you loads of money and even go on to become your main earner. But, for January at least, we’ve decided that we don’t need to do it all. Doing one thing and doing it well is fine. Let’s let RiRi pick up the rest while we all sit down and watch.
