One of the perks of being a reality star is getting a massive following on social media. You only need to search a few of the most likeable Love Island contestants to see that they have over 1million followers on Instagram. But, with such huge numbers, it’s inevitable that there’s some dodgy followers lurking in the mix.
Now, a company has worked out which UK reality stars have the most fake followers. JewelleryBoxhave compiled a leaderboard (using a software called HypeAuditor) which reveals how many ‘fake’ followers the UK’s top reality stars have. The softwear takes the audience of each account down into four categories: real people, influencers, mass followers and suspicious accounts. And for each reality star, they took the followers deemed to be mass followers - accounts with more than 1,500 followings - and suspicious accounts (bots and follows that have been paid for) to work out how many ‘fake’ followers they had. (Note: this doesn't imply that they have paid for any of these followers, or that they are aware that they have fake ones)
