It appears it’s curtains for another celebrity couple, with a source confirming that Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen (or, as they might be better known, Summer Roberts and Darth Vader) have called it quits.
Speaking to Us Weekly, the source revealed that ‘she’s full-time back in L.A. He’s in Toronto,’ adding that the couple have ‘been on the outs for a couple of months.’ And as if we had any doubts on their relationship status from that, the source goes on to add that the pair are ‘completely, officially done.’
Rachel and Hayden, who are best known for Noughties teen favourite The OC and the much-maligned Star Wars prequels respectively, first met on the set of sci-fi thriller Jumper back in 2007 and got engaged a few months later.
The couple went on to call off their engagement back in August 2010 then briefly split up, with news stories at the time citing distance and schedules as an issue. However, they got back together in a matter of months, though never tied the knot.
In November 2014, the pair welcomed their first child, a daughter named Briar Rose. The Star Wars actor later revealed that the name was a nod to Disney films, explaining, ‘There’s a Disney reference there, I suppose. The original Sleeping Beauty is called Briar Rose. Rachel – we both love Disney – but Rachel especially was very keen on the name.’
Over the course of their ten-year relationship, the couple chose to keep their private lives out of the spotlight, though each star would sometimes make a low-key appearance on the other’s Instagram feed. Most recently, Rachel posted a birthday message to her partner back in April of this year, accompanying a photo of Hayden with the caption ‘Happy Birthday Handsome. We love you so much’ along with the hashtag #10yearsandcounting. Aside from posting a note from her daughter on Father’s Day, references to her former partner have been entirely absent from Rachel’s Instagram posts.
The couple were last pictured together in June, when Rachel visited Hayden on the set of Little Italy.
