R. Kelly is now facing 11 more charges of sexual assault and abuse. As reported by Buzzfeed News, the singer has been indicted by a Cook County grand jury in his home state of Illinois. According to court records seen by Chicago Tribune reporter Megan Crepeau, the 52-year-old faces four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual assault, and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The BBC reportsthat the records reportedly show the charges relate to sexual assault and abuse of a minor aged between 13 and 16. If proven, they carry far heavier sentences than the others he faces.

Kelly - whose alleged abuse was heavily documented in recent documentary Surviving R Kelly - was arrested and charged in February with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four female victims. He pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.

Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg tweeted, ‘He was recharged in an existing case, same alleged victim and time (a decade ago). It changes nothing. These are the same conduct, just charged differently, same alleged victim, same time frame, same facts. We expect the same results.'
