Can you imagine what it would be like to have your very own coronation? The crown, the coach, the crowds, the church – all very reminiscent of a fairy tale, you'd think. And in theory you'd be right... but in practice... hmm... not so much.
Indeed, some parts of it you might even come to remember as being positively un-fairy tale-like.
Says who, you say? Oh, only The Queen...
In a trailer for a new documentary dedicated to the anniversary of The Queen's 65th year on the throne, Her Majesty talks about her memories of the great day – the 2nd June 1953 – when she made her way to Westminster Abbey to be crowned Queen of the United Kingdom.
'I've seen one coronation and been the recipient in the other, which is pretty remarkable,' she points out.
On the subject of the journey, she appears to label it 'horrible!' and adds 'It's only sprung on leather. Not very comfortable,' in what is believed to be a reference to the Gold State Coach's lack of suspension.
As to the other people involved, the Royal children, say, did they enjoy it?
Documentary presenter Alastair Bruce made the error of thinking so. When seated next to The Queen watching footage of Prince Charles and Princess Anne playing with her coronation robes, he commented: 'Such fun for the children!'
But The Queen jokingly responded, 'Not what they're meant to do!'
Now to the Crown Jewels... A marvel to behold, yes, but what are they actually like TO hold? 'There are some disadvantages to the crowns,' The Queen says before quipping, 'but otherwise, they’re quite important things...'
Another clip shows her expressing particular admiration for the 'Prince's Ruby' – the abochon red spinel set in the cross pattée at the front of the Imperial State Crown, officially known as 'Black Prince's Ruby'.
But when it came to the day as a whole, and what it represents to her, The Queen reveals thoughtfully, 'It's, I suppose, the beginning of one's life really... as a sovereign.'
We much look forward to seeing the documentary in full when it airs on 14th January on BBC One. (And what will we be wearing to watch it? Our crown and coronation robes, naturally.)
MORE! See Who Meghan Markle Might Choose For Her Bridesmaids
Meghan Markle's bridesmaids
Lindsay Roth
The front-runner for maid of honour is almost certainly Lindsay Roth, who chose Meghan for the same role at her own wedding last August. The Suits actress and producer and author have been friends for 15 years, with Lindsay recently telling People magazine that Meghan is 'the same girl I met years ago'. The two met at a Toni Morrison literature class during their first year of college at Northwestern University.
Jessica Mulroney
As well as being her unofficial stylist, Jessica Mulroney is also one of Meghan's closest friends, after the two met when the actress relocated to Toronto to begin filming Suits. She is heavily present on Meghan's Instagram account, as is her daughter, Ivy, so we think it's highly likely that she'll have a role.
Janina Gavankar
Fellow actress Janina Gavankar has known Meghan for 15 years, with the Suits star recently gushing about their friendship in an Instagram post that read: 'Couldn't be prouder of how far we've come, and couldn't be more grateful for being able to share every step of it with you.' As a long-term pal and as someone in the same industry as her, she's got a good chance of being in the bridal party.
Priyanka Chopra
Another actress that Meghan is good friends with is Priyanka Chopra, who she met at a dinner celebrating women in Hollywood a few years ago. After Vanity Fair ran their cover story with Meghan pegged to her relationship with Prince Harry, Priyanka defended her friend, saying she was more than just 'Harry's girlfriend'.
Serena Williams
Someone with an outside shot at being Meghan's bridesmaid is tennis ace Serena Williams. Meghan and the Wimbledon-champion have been friends since 2014 when they met at a charity football game. Despite their reported closeness, Meghan didn't attend Serena's own nuptials earlier this year, so it might be that she doesn't have a role at the royal wedding.
Princess Charlotte
As the niece of Prince Harry, it would be a pretty adorable touch if Princess Charlotte was included in the bridal party. After all, she was part of her aunt Pippa Middleton's wedding earlier this year to James Middleton, so it's not like she hasn't had any practice.
