In the wake of the political, economical and social upheaval that Britain has experienced since voting to exit the European Union last Thursday, the British people have been looking to figureheads for a stabilising response, for words of positivity and confidence, and for ways of moving forward.
Sometimes though, what's really needed is just a moment's relief from the mayhem, and yesterday, The Queen stepped up.
Whilst Her Majesty is politically neutral, in a meeting with Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness yesterday, she appeared to reference the tumultuous week just passed.
When McGuinness inquired as to how she was, The Queen replied: 'Thank you very much, well, I'm still alive, anyway'.
Just brilliant!
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in Northern Ireland on a two-day visit which saw them greeted by Stormont First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy Minister Martin McGuinness at Hillsborough Castle in Belfast yesterday.
The Queen also told McGuinness there had been 'a lot going on' recently, and later added, 'I've had two birthdays so we've been quite busy'.
That The Queen remains such a stalwart figure of calm in the midst of this storm is, honestly, beyond comforting. So we'd like to say: thank you Ma'am, for that moment's respite from the madness.
