Like millions of parents across the country, Kate and William have been homeschooling their children: Princess Charlotte and Prince George (little Prince Louis is still only two). But, like many, they have been left in doubt of what to do next. As children begin to go back to school - with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 going back first - a dilemma has arisen: is it right to send back one child and keep the other home?
While Charlotte, five, still in reception, there was a possibility that she would return to school just like many other children her age. But throughout May, there were reports that she might not be going straight back to school, and might stay home with six-year-old brother George. ‘William and Kate are understood to be eager to keep Prince George and Charlotte together, and to maintain their lockdown routine,' The Sunday Timesrevealed. Kensington Palace has declined to comment when asked when the children might return, and if they would do so separately.
The pair, currently bases with their parents at Anmer in Norfolk, attend Thomas's Battersea school, and pupils have been learning online during lockdown. ‘We have asked parents to keep their children at home and to access their lessons through this system,’ a spokesperson from the school previously said. ‘This will ensure that children have continuity of learning when they are unable to attend school.’
