Earlier this week, Prince William hit the headlines after he chose to miss the Commonwealth Day service in favour of a ski trip with friends Guy Pelly, James Meade and Tom van Straubenzee.

Prince William was the only royal asides from the Duchess of Camridge to have missed what is considered one of the most prestigious events in the royal calendar, as he partied in Verbier, Switzerland.

And now the 34-year-old has faced further scrutiny after being filmed dad dancing at Verbier’s Farinet nightclub. The footage published by TMZ, captures the prince on the dancefloor dancing to ‘90s hit 'I Got Five On It' in the early hours of Monday morning.

Prince William was reportedly in the club with Australian club hostess 24-year-old Sophie Taylor and her friend Rosie Peate.

Sophie’s mum told The Mirror: “She said they met and had a few drinks. She said he was lovely and down to earth.”

The video sparked backlash from the public after the Daily Mail reported that 'work-shy' Prince William has only carried out 13 official duties this year in comparison to 24 days carried out by the Queen.

However, Ingrid Seward, Editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, defended Prince William's actions as she told Sky News: "I am sure that if he was expected to be (at the Commonwealth Day ceremony) then he would have been. I don't see that there was a real need for William to have been present."

She continued: "He does a huge amount of work, he attends a lot of events and is very dedicated - he's allowed to have a bit of time off."
