We were all rocked by the ‘Breadxit’ scandal this week after the news that everyone's favourite show The Great British Bake Off is moving to Channel 4.
And if that wasn’t enough, it was then revealed that dream duo Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins are quitting the show altogether as they’re not ‘going with the dough’.
Left with the prospect of a future without bread related puns, we were all undoubtedly feeling a little glum post-breadxit.
But what we didn’t expect, was for Prince William to share in our heartache.
Whilst at a baking class at Caius House youth club in Wandsworth yesterday, Wills had a go at piping buttercream onto cupcakes alongside volunteers. Proud of his attempts the Prince boasted, “Mary Berry, eat your heart out - look at that".
It just so happens that William’s icing skills come from a secret love of the GBBO as he then turned to the young bakers and said, “You must be distraught it's moving, but I'm sure it will be just as good." Oh, we feel better already.
Though Wills isn’t quite up to scratch for the show himself as he revealed that the true baker in his household, well, palace is his wife as he revealed, “Kate is a very good cook”.
Here’s to hoping for a Royal addition of the GBBO. The Queen could always step in for Mary Berry?
