Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will be well aware thatPrince Harry and Meghan Markle officially made the move to Instagram yesterday. And it turns out everyone is just as excited as we are - because the royal pair broke a world record very, very quickly. @SussexRoyalalready has 2.1million (and counting) followers, but the account hit 1million followers by 9pm last night - just six hours after it was created - meaning that they broke the world record to hit the million mark. Yas! The previous record was held by Korean pop star Kang Daniel who made the achievement within 11 hours and 36 minutes. (So they did it way, way quicker.)
Their first post - which has already racked up over 763,000 likes - reads: "Welcome to our official Instagram. We look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal’- Harry & Meghan”
Meghan Markle did make a brief return to her own Instagram account in December 2018 - but it was apparently a mistake. Eagle-eyed royal fans Down Under (and one Grazia staffer) noticed that Meghan had made a return to the social media platform. But it appeared the Duchess’ official account, used by the royal up until January 2018 to post cute pics and loads of inspirational quotes, had been accidentally reactivated.
But with the birth of the royal baby incoming, we expect they will be breaking more Insta records soon on their joint account.
