It turns out Prince Harry had set his sights on Meghan Markle long before they were introduced, and it’s all thanks to her role in Suits.

In Channel 4’s new documentary, When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance, royal expert Katie Nicholl reveals how Harry was a longterm fan of the legal drama and in particular, Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane.

‘He had a crush on Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends,’ Zane revealed to OK! Magazine.

‘She told me she’d been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, so she said, “Harry, who’s your ideal girl?' And he said Meghan Markle from Suits."'

Last month they made their first public appearance as a couple when Meghan joined Harry courtside at the Invictus Games in Toronto. According to reports the pair have visited the Queen at Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea and an engagement is now imminent.
