Canada will be closing its borders to anyone who is not a citizen or a permanent resident, PM Justin Trudeau announced on Monday, however that does not include US citizens. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the wife of the Canadian prime minister, has also tested positive for coronavirus.
Idris Elba - who also attended the Wembley Arena We Day event with Sophie on March 4 - is one of the latest stars to test positive.
The actor announced the news on Twitter, saying that he showed no symptoms - but decided to get tested last Friday when he learnt he had been exposed to someone with the virus. Idris added that he has stayed in self-isolation since he was tested.
‘Stay home people and be pragmatic,’ he said, appearing in a video with his wife Sabrina Dhowre. ‘I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.’
‘Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now,’ Idris added. ‘If you’re feeling ill, or you feel like you should be tested, or if you’ve been exposed, do something about it.’
