Prince George and Princess Charlotte made a very sweet double act indeed when they arrived at the Lindo Wing, accompanied by their father Prince William, to meet their new baby brother for the very first time. The fact that the eyes of the world’s media were trained upon them as they tottered up what must be the most-watched stairs in the world, however (and yes, we are fully aware how strange that is as a concept) didn’t stop George, four, from getting up to his usual tricks.
As a handful of sharp-eyed royal watchers have pointed out online, as the pair walk into St. Mary’s Hospital, it appears that George does one of two things (we’ll leave you to decide which, depending on just how mischievous you believe the third in line to the throne to be). Option one: after taking his cue from Dad, after William places a supportive hand on the back of his head, George copies the gesture and pats his little sister on the head. Or, option two: the little Prince flicks Charlotte on the head, because – royal or not royal – siblings can’t go two minutes without joking with one another. Take a look at the evidence (we’re firmly in the latter camp…)
‘Favourite thing today was this blink-and-you’ll miss it moment inside the hospital where George appears to flick Charlotte’s head! Typical older brother!’ royal commentator Omid Scobie wrote on Twitter.
According to a source, the two older Cambridge children spent 25 minutes inside the hospital with their mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, and baby brother before heading back to Kensington Palace, Us Weekly reported. The pair were reportedly 'very excited' to meet their new sibling.
