Life must be tough when you’re the rich and famous offspring of two talented filmstars. No, really, because Rumer Willis, 26, has been treated like crap – basically bullied – by various internet commenters over the years. Like Perez Hilton, who has got a ‘potato_head’ tag on his website where he keeps all his stories about Rumer and would cross her face out on your burn book of a website and write ‘BARF’ over her body.
The famous offspring, who’s now on Dancing With The Stars – she might as well be now that she’s this famous, right? – said, in what we’re guessing is one of the more emotional moments of the TV talent show, ‘My mom is one of the most stunning women I’ve ever met and who everyone was comparing me to.’
FYI, can we mention here that Rumer’s mum, Demi Moore, has had a lot of work done to maintain her beauty.
‘They were saying you look more like your very masculine father than your beautiful mom,' People reports her as saying, ‘For years I thought, “Maybe I can get plastic surgery. If I change my face or get really skinny, that will be it, that will be the answer,” and it’s not.’
And good on her for saying this. It’s a shame that people have to steel themselves against horrible trolling and bullying but maybe stories like this will help people learn that it’s not ok to be this mean: ‘When you grow up with parents that are known worldwide and having so much attention from media and magazines, it’s really tough.’
‘When I was a teenager I was super awkward. I don’t think I really felt comfortable in my body or with how I looked and people were nasty.’
‘People would say I looked like a man or something called a “buttaface”, which means everything good but her face. Or “potato head” was the big term that everyone used a lot, basically making fun of the way I looked.’
Ugh. For the record, Rumer Willis looks perfectly fine, and we’re kind of happy she didn’t go under the knife to please the trolls. Now it’s their turn to make a sensible decision.
