Pirelli’s annual calendar is known for showcasing nearly-naked models, but last year they surprised us all with their change of direction. For their 2016 calendar they chose women for their accomplishments as opposed to their appearance, and the line-up included Amy Schumer, Serena Williams and Patti Smith.
We are pleased to report that for their 2017 calendar the brand have taken a similar approach. Yesterday they announced that the next calendar will celebrate the most talented actresses of our time, and they gave us a sneak peek of what's in store with a number of BTS snaps.
On the impressive line-up is: Charlotte Rampling, Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Lea Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, Robin Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Rooney Mara, Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Helen Mirren and Zhang Ziyi. The only non-actress featured is Anastacia Ignatova - a professor at Moscow State University and credited as a ‘special guest’.
Peter Lindbergh was tasked with lensing this group of amazing women over a period of four weeks in May and June. For Lindbergh’s third time working on the project he travelled to Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Le Touquet and New York to shoot the stars.
