In light of the terrible fires affecting much of Australia, many are doing their best to raise money to help those battling to fight the blaze, as well as support the people and animals left in its wake. Now Phoebe Waller-Bridge is doing her bit, and you can be a part of it. Fancy your own piece of cultural history that has the added bonus of helping those in need? There is a way.
At last week's Golden Globes, the Fleabag star wore a cool-as-hell couture suit designed by Ralph & Russo. But she won't be sending it back to the designer, nor will she be keeping it. Following her win, she announced that she would auction it off, with all proceeds going to charity. Depending on the depth of your pockets, you can get hold of it now that it's gone live on eBay here, but you haven't got long: the auction closes on January 20th.
'Im very excited that this stunning, one of a kind, couture tuxedo created by Australian geniuses Ralph & Russo will continue it's journey by contributing to this urgent cause', says Phoebe. 'If money raised by it’s auction can help raise funds to fight the disaster in Australia, the future impact of this suit will be far greater than the luck it brought me and the Fleabag team at the Golden Globes last weekend. To add to its allure... I spent most of the night brushing it past and rubbing it up against all the sparkly people I could find. These threads are laced with legends!' What's more, Phoebe has autographed the suit, which was made to measure but is close to a Size 12.
Phoebe decided to split proceeds three ways. The Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund, WIRES Wildlife Rescue Emergency Fund and Wildlife Victoria will all benefit.
Ralph and Russo's Creative Director, Tamara Ralph, and its CEO, Michael Russo, are thrilled to have Phoebe on board. 'With Australia remaining so close to our hearts, we are delighted to stand next to Phoebe to support relief efforts with this special auction.'
