Ever since Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with actress Meghan Markle last year, the star of Suits has become one of the most talked about women in the world, and it appears that this new-found level of public scrutiny has started to have an impact upon her cast mates, too.
In a new interview with Esquire, Patrick J. Adams, who plays Meghan’s on-screen love interest in the legal drama, revealed that when he posted a throwback photo to Instagram of the pair to celebrate Suits reaching the 100th episode milestone, the response was so overwhelming – and not necessarily in a good way – that he decided to delete his social media accounts. The photo in question was a blurry snap showing Meghan jokingly kiss her co-star’s cheek, and was taken back in the early seasons of the show – way before the star had even met the Prince.
A fan account reposted Patrick's now-deleted throwback picture
‘I posted this old photo I had found of Meghan and I on set. I went to bed, and woke up in the morning and realised “Oh yeah. I live in a world where you can’t post things about Meghan,”’ he told the magazine.
‘I had this onslaught of people re-tweeting the thing, people thinking it was a recent picture, and I just thought, “What the hell is going on?”’ he explained. ‘It was such an innocent moment of sentimentality that was twisted into something totally different. It made me feel like… why put myself through this? We’re like brother and sister, it’s not like it was lurid or anything, but it just became a story that people wanted to talk about.’

Patrick and Meghan, who is thought to have recently met her potential grandmother-in-law the Queen, have been close friends since they began filming Suits together back in 2011. Discussing her high profile relationship in a recent interview, he told E! News: ‘I’m super excited for her. As you can imagine, it is a massive deal, obviously, if you hadn’t noticed. I didn’t wanna get involved. I just wanted to say, “I love you, I support you, I hope you’re happy. You seem really happy.”’
‘But if there’s anyone in the world who is designed to be able to deal with it and deal with it professionally, it’s Meghan Markle,’ he added. ‘I’m just super excited for her and I hope that all of the […] madness passes at some point and they can just get down to the business of enjoying each other’s company and hopefully not have to worry about this.’
