Name a more iconic duo than Donald Trump and Twitter… I’ll wait.
It seems like the whole Twitterverse anxiously awaits each day in anticipation to find out what absolute cringe-inducing drivel that the leader of the free world will come up with in 140 characters.
Whether it’s using the platform to constantly badmouth the ‘failing’ New York Times, telling people to take a well-earned break from Making America Great Again, or just generally spelling out his daily conflicts of interest… The Donald is dedicated to inflicting his opinion on the people.
And yesterday turned out to be a good day for this duo.
The Twitterverse was treated to two absolute gems to devour. Firstly, there was the serious issue of Trump publicly calling out the department store Nordstrom after they pulled Ivanka Trump’s line. However, it was the second nugget that seemingly gave the most ammo to the mass waiting to pounce.
It started with another eye-roll-inducing ramble about vague immigration “facts”: ‘Big increase in traffic into our country from certain areas, while our people are far more vulnerable’. But, it was the way he finished the tweet that sent the Twitterverse into meltdown: ‘...as we wait for what should be EASY D!’
Sorry, what now? EASY D? What is EASY D?
Why are you shouting EASY D? Why are we waiting for EASY D?
The cryptic and rather euphemistic phrase made Twitter users wonder what Trump could have meant by this.
Some thought that it might be referring to Trump’s after-hours alter-ego...
Whilst others looked to the ever-reliable Urban Dictionary for the investigations…
However, Grindr had some more suggestive thoughts…
And finally, as expected, there was the more political of interpretations…
My speculation is that he has fallen prey to the beast of autocorrect, which has changed some (rare) new vocabulary he was trying out into one of his most used phrases.
Or, that this is what Melania calls him behind closed doors.
This most recent display just shows exactly why he is reminiscent of your Grandad who has just got Facebook and cannot help but publicly post anything that comes into his head… spelling mistakes and all.
Surprisingly, as of yet, he has not responded to what he could have been alluding to.
With the continuing calls for him to delete his personal account, and take more time to think about the implications of his comments to his position, moments like this make us quite enjoy his relationship with Twitter – if only for a split second.
What is for sure, though, is that we are all now patiently waiting for the EASY D alongside him.
