The Oscars are almost upon us, so as usual, we're speculating upon who is going to win. Will The Irishman clean up on the night? Or will Sam Mendes's 1917 get the most gongs? We're incredibly excited about the Best supporting Actor category, which includes Brad Pitt for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He faces stiff competition - Tom Hanks, Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci - but he seems like a worthy winner after joining forces with Leonardo DiCaprio for the first time.
His career has covered Indie dramas and blockbusters, action films and romances. But we have our favourites. Here are Brad Pitt's greatest performances.
Tyler Durden in Fight Club
How could we leave out this cult classic? Brad plays the mysterious and impossibly buff (yes, he gets his shirt off more than once) Tyler Durde, a soap salesman who sets up a fight club with Ed Norton's disillusioned city boy. A strange menage a trois develops between them and Maria Singer (played by Helen Bonham Carter). Brad has never been so charismatic.
Samuel Bass in 12 Years a Slave
This gut-wrenching, Oscar-winning film, was directed by Steve McQueen and saw Brad play Samuel Bass, a white man who questions the brutality of a plantation which holds African-Americans captive. The cast is incredible, with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong'o turning in moving performances, but Brad gets an honourable mention thanks to the fact that he also produced it under his Plan B production company.
Achilles in Troy
In this historical epic war film, which sees the Trojans and the Greeks fight over Helen of Troy, Brad expertly plays the mythical warrior Achilles.
He's cool, surprisingly compassionate and an excellent fighter. And he looks rather good in his armour. Enough said.
John Smith in Mr and Mrs Smith
It's the film that launched a Hollywood romance for the ages. The chemistry between Brad, then married to Jennifer Aniston, and Angelina Jolie is undeniable as they star as a married couple who are both secretly assassins.
It's a fun, cheesy and frivolous - perfect viewing for a lazy Sunday.
Benjamin Button in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Brad earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor - his first in that category - in this delightful and incredibly moving film. He plays Benjamin Button, a character who has a rare condition which makes him age backwards. He stars alongside a stellar cast including Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett.
