What on earth is octane oil?

Orlando Bloom Octane Oil

We all have our ways of starting our days. Most of us crawl out of bed, put the kettle on and brush our teeth before making sure our hair is ok for the first Zoom meeting of the day. But things are different when you're a Hollywood star, and this weekend saw Orlando Bloom mocked online for discussing his personal morning routine, complete with 'earning' breakfast and something called octane oil. Orlando, who rose to fame through roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, concedes to The Sunday Times that it's 'all quite LA, really.'

He's not wrong. Orlando explained that he likes to start the day with 'some green powders' mixed with brain octane oil, collagen powder for his hair and nails, and protein. Orlando, who is engaged to Kissed A Girl singer Katy Perry, then goes for a hike while listening to music by Nirvana or Stone Temple Pilots. Presumably, this is at a time when the rest of us are still dreaming.

On his return - he says he likes to 'earn' breakfast, which we don't love the sound of - he enjoys a meal of porridge with 'a little hazelnut milk, cinnamon, vanilla paste, hazelnuts, goji berries, vegan protein powder', accompanied by a cup of PG Tips. You can take the boy out of the UK, but you can't take UK out of the boy.

Orlando, 44, tells the publication says he's '90 per cent plant based' so will eat a 'really good piece of red meat maybe once a month,' adding that he feels too guilty to eat meat regularly, thinking that cows are 'beautiful.'

Naturally, Twitter users absolutely rinsed him as soon as the interview was widely shared.

'I'm having Cheerios and I earnt them by merely existing,' wrote singer SuRie, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.

'Woke up after a lie in and saw the TL full of Orlando Bloom's morning regimen. I shambled to the kitchen and made a tea accompanied by a stick of Kinder Bueno. There are no right answers,' one user wrote.

'Orlando Bloom: "I like to earn my breakfast." 'Me: lurches out of bed at 5am, regrets it immediately, eats three breakfasts in a row to make things better'"

'Wondered why Orlando Bloom was trending so read this after lurching out of bed at 10.50 then drinking three cups of tea, and eating a bacon butty and a Toffee Crisp.'

Naturally, he did receive some support. 'He's living his best life the way he wants it,' one wrote. And no, this wasn't Katy Perry depending her love and father of her child, Daisy.

For many, though, the interview was just confusing. There was a major spike in search for 'what is octane oil?' as readers looked into if they should be chugging it before their morning hike. For those still wondering, octane oil is sourced from coconuts, then concentrated into an oil that is claimed to help with energy levels and fat-burning. It is flavourless, so is best added to smoothies and dressings. Well, now you know!
