Last night artists from around the world united in Manchester to join Ariana Grande at her One Love Manchester concert: a benefit concert which honoured the victims of those affected by the terror attack last month.
Ariana Grande, whose concert was the target of the attack that killed 22 people, returned to Manchester with the support from stars such as Miley Cyrus, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, Black Eyed Peas, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Take That, Katy Perry and more.
One Love Manchester, which was held at Old Trafford with an audience of 50,000 people, was a heartfelt and emotional night. 'Love always wins' was the message at the heart of the occasion.
The concert began with a minute's silence to honour the victims of the attack, and then Marcus Mumford kicked off the music, giving a performance of his song 'Timeshel'. Mancunian band Take That then took to the stage to sing 'Shine', 'Giants' and 'Rule the World'.
'Thanks to Ariana for inviting us tonight,' Gary Barlow said.
'Everyone has been affected by this. But right now we want you to stand strong, look at the sky and sing loud and proud,' he continued.
The band was joined by former Take That member, who then performed his iconic song 'Angels', as well as 'Strong'.
Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams then took the stage to sing his joyful and uplifting song 'Happy'.
'I'm smiling, because despite all the things that have been going on this place, I don't smell or see or hear or feel any fear in this building,' Pharrell said. 'All we feel here tonight is love, resilience, positivity.'
He also altered the lyrics to 'Manchester will be just fine'.
Miley also gave an inspirational speech. 'The biggest responsibility we have on this entire planet is to take care of each other,' she said. 'And look what we've done today.'
Miley then went on to perform her own song, 'Inspired', and spoke of the good her friend Ariana Grande's strength and determination to give so much back to Manchester.
'She's proved she's a good role model by putting all this together,' Miley said.
Later on in the night, Miley and Ariana performed 'Don't Dream It's Over' - the duet they first performed on 'Happy Hippie Presents: Backyard Sessions' in 2015.
Ariana spoke to the crowd saying, 'Before we go any further I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being here today,' she said. 'I love you so, so much.
'I want to thank you so much for coming together and being so loving and strong and unified. I love you guys so much and I think the kind of unity and love you're displaying is the medicine that the world really needs right now.
'So I want to thank you for being just that – and I want to thank you for coming tonight.'
Also taking the stage was former 1D member Niall Horan, who performed his song 'Slow Hands'.
Justin Bieber gave an emotional speech about how love always prevails.
'Woudl you agree that love always wins?' he asked the audience. 'There's a better way to fight evil with evil - to fight evil with good.
He then performed an acoustic version of his song 'Cold Water' as well as 'Love Yourself'.
Although the concert was due to heartbreaking circumstances, Ariana Grande kept the night joyous and hopeful, deciding to focus on the positive and on love.
She performed her hit singles 'Break Free', 'Side by Side' and 'My Way', which she performed with her boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller.
She also performed 'My Everything' with the Parrs Wood High School choir - some of whom were at the concert when the attack happened.
Ariana and Chris Martin sang 'Don't Look Back In Anger' - the song made famous by Mancunian band Oasis.
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher later joined Coldplay to sing 'Live Forever', and Coldplay also sang 'Fix You'.
David Beckham also paid tribute to the victims of the attack by recording a heartfelt message which was shown at the concert.
'Manchester is a place that was my home for many years,' he said. 'The people are some of the most special I have ever met in my life.
'I'm so proud of everyone there today, everyone in the crowd and all the artists. Tonight is about remembering those who suffered so much on that night, but also celebrating the spirit of this great city.'
During the live broadcast, as Justin Bieber was on stage, the BBC flicked to an aerial shot of a policeman dancing with some crowd members, showing that joy and spirit was still present despite the horror that had unfolded.
